Keep it short

A good window of time to shoot for is 30-60 seconds. You’d be surprised how much information you can share in under a minute! It also encourages viewers of your video to watch it in its entirety.

DIY or ask for help

There is nothing wrong with recording your video yourself, but if you have a friend who can record your video for you it may be a bit easier.

Find a well-lit, quiet spot

If possible, find somewhere with little to no background noise and a good amount of natural light. Bonus points if you can find a simple background, like a wall.

Start with a smile

If you’re unsure how to start your video just start with a smile and go from there.

What to talk about

Start by introducing yourself and telling everyone what you’re currently doing (e.g., school, job, certification).

Then, pick one or two of these topics to include:

• A professional accomplishment you’re proud of
• Things you enjoy working on in your free time
• Your favorite past work experience
• One or two professional skills you’ve learned
• Your favorite class and what you loved about it

Get creative
